More Service! woohoo!
9/2/13--This week we did some service at a preschool and we painted two huge swing sets and some benches!! we had a bunch of bright colors and had a lot of fun painting! Also this week, we were able to meet with Elder and Sister Smith (senior couple for the ABC islands) and they are actually from Orem, UT! they know Ted and Lydia Gibbons so it was really fun to talk with them and get to know them better! we had a great homemade dinner at the Hansens home (American member family) with President Buckley and his wife, Elder and Sister Smith, and us! We were able to really sit down and talk about the progression of the mission work and see what we need to do to help it further progress! We still have a baptismal date with Jose for the 14th of September and we are really really excited for him! Also, a member here has her grandkids that are going to start living with her for part of the week and so she said that her grandson wants to get baptized so hopefully we will be able to started working with him! woohoo!! things here are going great and i cant believe that i only have 3 more months in the mission! CRAZY!! i love and miss you guys!! remember, you will never stand taller than when you are on your knees! (AKA go pray!)

Elder Herring
8-26-13 This week we had a mission tour with Elder Civic and it was awesome! we were able to watch it at the Hansens home (American member family here in Aruba) and we watched it on their big screen TV while sitting on their leather couches! wow that was great!! Elder Civic talked a lot about how we need to work with less active member families and also that we need to be obedient, hard working missionaries. i wished that i could have actually been in the DR to see him and shake his hand but i was grateful that we were actually able to listen to his talk. then, we did a ton of service this week!! we first painted the ceilings of a members apartments that he is building for him because he fractured his wrist while playing at an activity that the branch had. so it was a little difficult for him to paint so we helped him out. then, we did service the next day at a contacts house named Fred that we met. He needed help cleaning up his yard so we raked a TON of leaves and helped him trim some trees! it was really fun and a rewarding experience to give a lot of service this week! im glad that we had those opportunities cause not many people like getting help around here when you offer it. We still have a baptismal date with Jose and we are SOOOO excited for him! he'll be baptized on the 14th of september! We will have to talk to Rudy and see whats up cause he didnt come to church again. its discouraging as a missionary when your investigators dont come but you keep doing your best and pray and have faith! anyways, i love and miss you guys and hope that everyone is well!
Love,
Elder Herring
PS im including some of the pictures we've taken the past couple of weeks on Pday!
