it feels good to know that i know officially have over a year in the mission. finally!! for my one year mark my companion Elder Peterson and I went to an ice cream place and both of us ate a pint of ice cream and then we headed back out and kept working the rest of the day. it honestly just felt like any other day in the mission! our investigators in the area are progressing with the lessons but they arent coming to church. it is a big problem in this area because the church is a good 45 minute walk from the area that we are at and some of our investigators live even farther out than that. they can take a bus out to the church but a round trip will cost them 50 pesos and thats a lot around here so its really tough to help them understand the importance and the blessings that come from going to church. its really frustrating at times to have all these people tell you that they will be there in the church and then you show up on sunday morning and there isnt one investigator there. ahh!! well we will keep working hard and hopefully they will start to understand. some fun things that my comp and i did this week is clean out our tanacko. A tanacko is basically a very large container on the roof of your house that stores water so that when you need to shower or wash dishes or anything like that, you´ll have water to do it. then there is a pump that pumps water up and into it so that it is always full. well our water started smelling weird and so we decided to go up top and see what was going on. well we ended up finding out that there was a 2 inch layer of dirt on the bottom of this huge container so we had to drain all of the water and then clean it out! but the good news is that now we have clean water that smells normal! yay. Things here are going good and we have a lot of new potential investigators so we´ll see how things go! anyways i love you guys and i hope everyone is enjoying the christmas season!
Love,
Elder Herring
