This past week has been so much better and i feel like a brand new
missionary! thank you everyone for your prayers!! i know for a fact that
i have been able to feel all of your prayers in this past week because
ive had a ton of energy and ive been able to work really hard and get a
lot of stuff done! seriously thank you all! we were able to go to the
temple on tuesday and wow was that a great experience!!! i havent been
since back in february so this time was extra great. its amazing how
quiet and amazing you feel when you are inside the temple and how
clearly you are able to think. i reflected a lot on what would have
happened if i would have had to go home from being sick and i thought
about how much i missed everyone but at the same time, i didnt want to
finish my mission early and go home with only one year. i never thought
that i would think like that but being in the temple helped me realize
that i have such a small amount of time here to help out these people
and i only have a year left. anyways the temple trip was amazing and we
went to mcdonalds afterwards and it was probably some of the best food
ive eaten in a long time! haha i never thought that i would appreciate
mcdonalds so much! only the really wealthy people here in this country
eat mcdonalds so it was an interesting experience sitting around people
that were all dressed up and eating bigmacs! also, Wednesday there was a
lady in our branch that had to go to the hospital because she is
pregnant and they had problems with the baby so we heard about that and
immediately went to the hospital to see if we could give her a blessing
and we were able to which was a really cool experience and everything is
good and fine with her and the baby now! also this past week we got
bars on our windows at our house so now i feel a little bit more safe
knowing that no one can break in! another thing is that this past week
me and my comp decided to look in the area book and see if we could find
any old investigators from years past and we found like 7 or 8 of them
and when we contacted them over the phone, they all sounded really
really happy to hear that the missionaries wanted to talk to them again!
we are super excited to begin teaching them again and hope that they
will be able to progress and get baptized! Also this past week, me and
my comp decided to go and try to see if we could find where the branch
president lives and we´ve only been to his house once and it was at
night and it was raining really hard and we were on the back of a
motorcycle. but we knew that we would be guided to where his house was
so we just started walking in the direction where we could remember. we
ended up finding this huge hole in the ground out in the middle of
nowhere and this guy came up out of it and told us to come down and see
his house!! yes this guy lives in a bunch of underground caves but we
didnt have time to go look around so we kept going and finally we found
the house of the branch president. Today we are going to go back and see
this guys underground cave house and take pictures so ill send them
next week! last thing for this week was that i didnt really pay
attention but our house is across the street from a little church, well
this church the other night decided to preach until 11 at night and they
had huge speakers with preachers that were screaming into the
microphone. we closed
all the doors and windows to try and block out the sound and i even had
earplugs and i could still hear through the earplugs! it was so loud and
i really hope that they dont decide to do another preaching party!
anyways those are some things that happened this past week! thank you
all again for the prayers and i hope everyone is doing good back home!
love you all!
Love,
Elder Herring
