wow this past week was honestly probably the worst week ive ever had in
the mission. so last monday night i started feeling a little bit sick
and so i went to bed a little earlier thinking that i would be able to
sleep it off. well i woke up tuesday morning feeling like death so i
just slept the whole day thinking that it would be gone wednesday
morning but it was still there on wednesday! so i called the mission
doctor to ask him what i should do. He told me that i might have this
virus thats been being spread by mosquitoes called the dengue which is
deadly and can kill you. he told me to come into the capital where he
was at so that they could do some blood tests to see if thats what i
had. well they figured out that yes, i have the dengue. some symptoms of
the dengue are huge headaches, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, no energy,
super light headedness, no appetite, and skin rash. basically you just
feel like you want to die. so i stayed in the capital wednesday,
thursday, and friday so that they could make sure they knew what was
happening in case my condition worsened. the thing with dengue is that
your plate levels get depleted because this virus somehow gets rid of
them and it gets dangerous when your plate levels get far down. well
there is no medication or cure and the only thing they tell you to do is
drink a lot of liquids and your body should pull through it after about
a week. im still not doing really good but i am a lot better than i
was! one of the worst experiences during the week was on friday! we went
to the hospital so i could get my blood taken again so that they could
see if ive been getting better or worse but the nurse that took my blood
was TERRIBLE!!! she had no clue what she was doing. so i was already
feeling like crap and she ties the band around my arm so that she could
see a vain in my arm to stick the needle. well she decides to just stick
the needle in my arm without making sure that she had a for sure vain.
then when no blood came out, she took out the first one and put in a
second one, but still no blood came out, then she stuck in a third one
and started wiggling the needle around my arm to see if she could get
any blood. well she finally did get some but i ended up puking in their
trash can and almost passing out on the floor. i haven't really eaten
this week at all so i am super skinny again and i feel like a skeleton.
that was my story for the worst week in the mission. and im positive
that that will be the worst and last week i have like that. anyways i
hope everyone is loving clean united states with your couches and air conditioning! love you guys!
Love,
Elder Herring
