This past week has flown by and has been a blast!! Me and my new comp Elder Peterson are finding new people every day and also getting to know all of the members and old investigators that live around here. Last monday, me and my comp decided to do a family home evening with the branch presidents family but the branch president lives like an hour and a half walk away and it is really really hard to find so he told us to meet him by the beach that enters into the area where he lives. well we get there and he comes to pick us up on his motorcycle and here in the DR they will put up to 6 or 7 people on one motorcycle so the 3 of us on one isnt a big deal at all. so the branch president is the driver and i get on behind him and then my comp goes to get on behind me and i thought that he had gotten on the bike but apparently he wasnt all the way on and i told the branch president to go!! well the branch president starts going and all of a sudden my comp grabs onto me and i thought that he was just really scared so i begin to laugh really hard! it took us a good 15 minutes riding on the motorcycle to get to the house where the pres lived and when we finally got there, my comp gets off and i ask him why he got scared. well he tells me what had really happened and that he hadnt fully been on the motorcycle when i told the branch president to go!! haha that was a really fun event!! but as for our investigators that we have, we should be having a baptism within the next month! one of the members named Marta has a granddaughter that is 11 and wants to be baptized but the mom of this girl wont let her. so me and elder peterson passed by yesterday (sunday) to have a good lesson with them about baptism and after the lesson was over, we asked the mom if it would be alright if her daughter got baptized and long story short, she said yes!! the grandmother (Marta) was super happy!! so ill keep you guys up to date on what happens with that! other than that, things are going really good here and we keep getting more and more investigators and we keep figuring out where more and more members and less active members live! its a really fun area and our 1st counselor in the bishopric is from BYU and moved here with his wife a year ago to go to the university here because its cheaper and faster to do schooling here in the DR. So its nice to go and share a scripture in english once in awhile! haha my companion loves being able to share the gospel with them because he is still new to spanish so it really gives him a break! but things here are great and the work keeps on trucking! i hope everyone back home is really appreciating the cool weather cause i am sitting here in a cubicle sweating like crazy! love you guys!
Love,
Elder Herring
