This Week

this past week has been good! sadly though we weren´t able to baptize Ricardo and Janilda from the past week that i talked about. Quick update on the DR is that nobody here is married.... NOBODY!! So Ricardo and Janilda have a family but after we started teaching them, they wanted to live the law of chastity so Ricardo moved out and so we've been working with him to get some papers he needs to be able to get married and so we asked the Zone Leaders if we could baptize them because they are obeying the commandments but they are just waiting to get papers so they can get married and they said yes so that was last week when we were planning on baptizing them this Saturday but then some problems came up and we had to ask the mission president if we could still baptize them but the mission president asked us to wait until they have their papers and are married before they get baptized. I think that is actually smarter though cause they really want to get baptized and this will push them to get the papers to get married. so now we are working with them so that they can get baptized soon!! oh man missionary work is interesting! So anyone that's been on a mission knows that doing contacts which is just going from door to door isn't that much fun cause a lot of people shut you down. but this past week we found a new investigator and we had been over there a couple times and then last night (Sunday night) we went over there to teach her and everything just kind of went downhill. she couldn't understand that Joseph Smith was just a prophet that restored the church. she kept thinking that we pray to him and get our salvation from him and all this weird stuff but no matter how many times we explained it to her, she just could not understand. Other than that experience, things here have been going great! Tropical weather is really nice and the past couple of nights have been actually really breezy and almost on the side of cold! The end of this transfer is coming up in one week and im really excited and nervous to see if ill be going or staying and who my new companion is going to be! Transfers are really interesting cause you have no clue whats going to happen! Anyways things here are going really good and i still love and miss everyone! I hope everyone is loving it back home and i hope everyone is doing good! love you guys!

Love,
Elder Herring
