Baptisms!

This past week has literally flown by!! So this past saturday we were able to have another baptism! Her name is Mercedes and she was super ready for the gospel to be in her life when we met her! It was a really amazing experience because she has a son that is interested in our church and he came and was able to watch his mom get baptized! Hopefully he was able to feel something when he saw his mom get baptized! we have another 2 baptisms coming up this coming saturday and im really excited for these because their family is going to receive so many blessings from it! So these past couple of P-days, me and my comp. have been playing a ton of baseball! last week we went down by the beach and just played catch but it was really fun cause we were standing at least a half a football field away from each other and we would throw it as hard as we could. Then today (monday) we just got done playing baseball with the other two missionaries in our house and also with a bunch of Dominican kids! These are seriously some of the best memories! Living here in the DR can be tough sometimes just because spanish can be a little overwhelming and people can be rude but i have to take a step back and remember that im here to do the Lords work. This area that im in (Boca Chica) is one of the best areas in the mission and has one of the best wards. Plus my companion is an amazing missionary and he's always there to help me out. I've seriously been so blessed! So the DR is really religious and you see Jesus stickers everywhere and people always say, "Dios te bendiga" which means God bless you. There is a religion here that is super lost in their doctrine and they always try to make a point but they never can because they are so lost in their doctrine. This past week we were in a "cita" (appointment) and there were 4 people there and after the opening prayer i started to share a scripture. Right as i got done reading Helaman 5:12 they immediately started trying to make a point but they couldn't get to any question. So after about 5 minutes, the spirit started to leave and you could feel a darkness so i politely cut them off, gave them a restoration pamphlet, and shared with them my testimony and then we closed with a prayer. Moral of the story is that there are some people here in the DR that are super ready for the gospel and there are others that just want to have a bible bash! I love it out here though cause im learning more and more spanish everyday and im able to understand people more and more everyday! well anyways ill close for now but my suggestion for this week to all of you is get a firm but yet simple testimony of the gospel and your life will be blessed immensley! love you all!!

Love,
Elder Herring
