Ok, so this week has gone by SO fast!!! For starters, I had to give the opening prayer last Sunday night for the devotional in front of over 2500 missionaries!!! haha Ya I was a little nervous but it all worked out!! Then we were able to host new missionaries that were coming into the MTC on Wednesday! That’s quite an experience ‘cause you get to see the brand new missionaries get dropped off on the curb but it’s sad to see their family cry! Everytime I helped an Elder, I thought about how I was just at that point not that long ago and how much I have already changed! Crazy! Although I still don’t really like the MTC, it is making a huge change in my life! I’m appreciating being here and this time to prepare to go out on my mission!
Yesterday (Thursday) our district received our travel plans and oh boy am I excited!!! yyyeeesss!!!!!!! We have to be to the travel office at 3 in the morning on Monday, January 30th and then our flight leaves Salt Lake at 6 am! We have a lay over in Texas and then fly to Miami, and then finally we arrive at the DR at 9pm at night! Not too bad but I am so excited! I’m super nervous though cause we had a teacher come in our classroom this past week that had gone to the DR and their language doesn’t even really sound like Spanish! Oh man am I in for it!! But I know that I've got the Lord on my side and I know that if I truly want to speak Spanish then I will be blessed!
The best way to learn a lot is to just lose yourself in the work and not think about anything but what is at hand! My testimony grows more and more everyday and I always look back and reflect on everyone who has helped me get to this point so thank you so much to all of you for helping me out! I love you all and can't wait to see your faces again!! I hope everything is going well for all of you!
Love,
Elder Taylor Herring
