Hey everyone! So this week at the MTC has been quite an adventure! My testimony grows more and more every day! This last Tuesday we had a devotional and you would never believe who came and spoke to us!! Russell M. Nelson!! And I was able to sit on the 4th row right square in the middle!! Yep, you guessed it, he looked right at me and smiled!! It seriously felt like he was staring straight into my soul! It was amazing to feel his spirit fill the whole auditorium! Wow, I hope I can be like that someday!! He talked to us about the gathering of Israel and there was one thing in particular that stuck out to me that he said.... "Zion is wherever righteous saints and the pure in heart are, it’s not a place." I've never thought about that before but it’s so true! So in our District Review after the fireside we shared with each other that we are the ones that are creating those Zions and how cool it is that we are able to do that! Yep, that got me really excited!
Also this week our district was able to host the new missionaries which just means that we take them right as they get out of their car and show them where they will be leaving and help them get books and stuff. That was an interesting experience being able to be on the other side helping the missionaries cause you get a whole new perspective! It’s sad to see families and moms cry and then just drive off cause they won't see their son for two years but they are doing the right thing by serving a mission! Time here at the MTC is kind of going quick! (thank goodness)! I see a bunch of people I know here all the time that keep coming in and it’s good to know that I'm not the only one that is going through all of this!
My Spanish is getting better everyday but it’s still tough to learn how to fluently speak Spanish so that other people can understand you! I can get my point across but sometimes it’s hard cause the Spanish language sometimes phrases sentences differently than in English so to me it doesn't make sense, but to my teachers it does. But I only have two weeks left and my departure date is January 30th! Its going to be really interesting getting out into the real world again cause everyone here is missionaries so it doesn't feel that different but I know it will when I'm not seeing missionaries everywhere and I am the only missionary! I cannot wait to go into the warm sun!! Ahh it’s killing me number one being stuck in a classroom ALL DAY and number 2 that its cold everyday and you can't really feel the heat from the sun!
Well anyway, thank you all for the letters that you have sent me and for the packages!! I love you all and can't wait to hear from you! Thank you for all the help you guys have given me to get to this point in my life!
Love,
Elder Taylor Herring
