New Years and Baptism!‏

This past week was great! Elder Peterson and I were able to go to a really nice restaurant on christmas night that was soooo good! we had steak and mashed potatoes! wow it was amazing. Also we have been teaching a girl named Scarlet and she had her baptismal interview this past week and passed so we are going to be having her baptism on this upcoming saturday!! yes!! she is really really cool and understands everything we teach her and knows that its important to follow Christ. We are really excited because she was one of our contacts and the first time she came to church, she knew a bunch of members and that really helped her keep going! After we baptize Scarlet we are going to start teaching her brother and her mom so that the whole family can be in the church! Kind of random but Scarlets family has a hawk and it lives at their house and we were able to hold it the other day when we were doing the baptismal interview! ill include a picture of it.
A funny phrase here that we just learned last week from a member is ¨se fue la gua gua¨ which literally means in english ¨the bus left¨ and you would use that expression if someone all of a sudden gets upset at something. its pretty funny to listen for that phrase now and to use it on people! There are two little member girls that taught us this phrase named Negra and Priscilla and ill include a photo of them! They are super cool!!
Also we did an intercambio this past week which is an exchange for a day of missionaries. for example i can go to a different area in my zone and a missionary from that area can come here to my area and they do that so you can see how other missionaries teach and get new ideas and insights on how you can help your investigators out. Well we did an intercambio and the area that i went to is super dead! which means that the missionaries havent been working hard and there are literally no investigators. that intercambio taught me that its important that you work hard everyday so you dont end up just walking around your area all day and doing nothing! plus when you work hard, you are able to see results such as baptisms! and finally new years eve... it was really good this year but my comp and i ended up falling asleep at 11 cause we were super tired but it was good! There was just a lot of loud music being played outside all night and people partying but it was a fun new years eve! i think the craziest part is that its 2013!! wow time is going quick!! Anyways i love you guys and i hope everyones holiday season was great!
Love,

Elder Herring
