Yesterday (Sunday) we received transfer calls! Usually if you are just going to get a normal call you dont get the call until later in the night like 9 or 10 and you get called by your zone leaders but sometimes you get special calls and you get them straight from the president of the mission! if you get a special call then that means you are either training, going to be a district leader, or going to be a zone leader! and...... i recieved a special call!! When the Presidents name showed up on the phone, me and my companion freaked out cause we didnt know who it was for or what he was going to say! so the president told me that i was going to be a district leader and im going to stay here in Benjamin, La Romana! i´m pretty excited cause im getting a new companion that has a little less time than me and his name is Elder Boeing, so hopefully all goes well! Also we have two really great families that we are teaching and one of the families has a baptismal date for the 28th of july! ill send pictures when we have the baptism but i am super excited for them! i dont know if ive said much about them but the dad contacted us when we were walking in the street and asked us if it was true if he was going to go to hell if he were to read the ¨golden plates¨ or in other words the Book of Mormon. so we set a time when we could pass by and ever since then, we´ve taught him pretty much everything that we can! that was almost 2 months ago but now we´ve been working with them so that they can get married because nobody here in this country is married! Another crazy thing about him is that he had a huge afro and big beard when we first met him so he looked a little scary and intimidating but after a couple weeks of coming to church and being taught, he cut it all off and now he looks way good!! its really amazing to see the gospel change peoples lives! Im loving the work out here and i hope this next transfer will be full of fun and good investigators! the best way to be a missionary is to work!! work and follow the spirit are key factors and if you do them both correctly, you see a huge change in things! anyways things here are going great and i hope every one back home is doing just as good! Love you guys!
Love,
Elder Herring
