3rd Week in the DR!‏

This week has gone by so fast!!! oh my goodness time flies in the mission field!! So this past Saturday i was able to baptize for my first time and oh my goodness that was so amazing!! i was a little nervous at first cause when you baptize someone, you call them by their full name and people here have really long and really odd names that are hard to pronounce (if you are a gringo) haha so her name is Esperanza but her full name sounds something like this ineowanna onienkjndfa oiwanefoindsa!! so i just had her repeat each name to me so i could attempt to say it all!! haha ya that was an experience!! but the baptism went by super fast! like you could have snapped your fingers and it would have been over that fast! it was a really amazing experience and the spirit was so strong!! its amazing how the spirit is able to work through you to bless others lives!
so last night (Sunday night) we went to the beach just so i could see it and it was so cool! it was super peaceful so we decided to read some scriptures and that was a cool experience! then while we were reading, a guy came up and talked to us for a little bit. we got to know him a little and he is from Italy but is here staying with family because things were hard back home. he wasn't interested in the gospel but it was fun to just talk with him. hes been living here in the DR for about 7 or so months and he already is pretty fluent in Spanish! its good to know that all these missionaries and people that have come here not knowing Spanish have been able to learn and understand as time goes on! i know that i just need to have patience and really on the lord and everything will start to unfold!
This next coming week we were supposed to have 2 more baptisms (a mom and her 10 year old son) but the mom was really sick and couldn´t make it to church this Sunday so now we have to postpone it until next Saturday. i was a little bummed about that one but i know they have a strong desire to be baptized so i know we will be able to baptize them next Saturday! we also have a handful of new investigators that are really interested in the gospel! im excited to start seeing their progression!

everything here is going great!! fun times and always the warm sun!! i love you all and thank you for the role that all of you play in my life!! hope everyone is safe and happy!

Love,
Elder Taylor Herring
