Life in the MTC

Hello everyone!
Sorry it took me so long to figure out that i was supposed to start this already! So for those of you that don't know, I was supposed to leave the provo MTC this coming tuesday which is right after christmas but the travel office informed us that the Dominican Republic MTC is full and there is no more room for missionaries So, yep, I am stuck here for all nine weeks of my training! So I won't be leaving here until January 30th! But I've heard that the MTC in the DR is no fun so in a sense I guess I am being blessed by being stuck here! I don't think I've ever been in one place for such a long amount of time in my whole life!! It's crappy not having the freedom to go where you want, when you want and be with who you want! At first it was fun having a companion, but then you both start getting tired of each other. It's like a rollercoaster because we like each other and then get mad at each other and it just keeps going. My companion's name is Elder Fortin and he's from Kaysville, UT. His family is Phillipino but he only speaks English. He's a really cool guy and he is really strong in wanting to stick to the rules!
Life here at the MTC is very routine. You wake up at 6 and then have class the whole day and then go to bed at 10:30 and it starts all over again the next day! Yep, not that exciting! Thank you to all of those of you who have sent me letters and packages! That is the only thing to look forward to while living here cause we only get 30 minutes of computer time once every Friday! I would love to hear from anyone and would love to write back to you!
The food here is good but it tastes like it's watered down and there is a rumor that they put Metamucil in all of their food! haha I believe it cause the first couple of weeks here everyone was constantly in the bathroom but I think my body is immune to it now! They feed you unlimited food so I try eating a lot of salads so I won't gain 50 pounds! The Spanish language is going good and I'm learning a ton! I can now carry on a decent conversation and teach someone about the gospel! It's really exciting to see the gift of tongues working in my life! The MTC has a devotional planned for us on Saturday night and Sunday night for Christmas and we are supposed to have some apostles come talk to us so I'm pretty excited for that one! Also, we are going to have one huge Sacrament meeting with all 2,000 missionaries and they are having over 60 missionaries help pass the sacrament! haha that's going to be interesting!!
Well thank you all for your support in my life and for all the fun times! I'll try to remember to write on this every week! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and seriously enjoy being with your family cause it is no fun being here with no family! Love you guys!

Love,
Elder Herring
