Carnaval

This week was Carnaval in the DR and it was a really fun day.... well it looked like it was fun for everyone! haha we had to work as usually but everyone here was out in the streets and hanging out with friends and family. February 27th here is independance day here and its a mixture of that with halloween so everyone dresses up in costumes and they have a big parade! its really cool! there werent many people home that day cause everyone was out in the streets and at other peoples houses so our day was a little rough trying to teach people! Here in El Seybo they had a grand parade and then people stayed up late at night to party and blast their music! there arent any sound laws here or any laws period so people just do what they want! also, that day, we did something called an intercambio which is when companionships trade comps for 24 hrs. usually its the district leader that does it with another area so that he can see how they are working and meet their investigators. so i stayed here and my companion left to go to an area called Sabana de La Mar. An Elder named Elder Coleman from Idaho came here with me and it was so weird being with someone that speaks english again! im really starting to like only speaking spanish cause its helping me out a ton! Everything here is going great and the work is really progressing! we are going to be putting some baptismal dates this week so hopefully things keep trucking. our only problem is that none of our investigators really come to church so it makes it hard for them to progress when they cant even go to church. we are for sure going to work with them and help them come but it will be some work! also, last thing, today Elders Urbina (my comp.), Noble and Pritchett (elders in Hato Mayor) went to Higuey and we visited the Basilica which is the really big catholic church that i went to back in september. it was cool to see it again! ill send some pics. anyways love you all and i hope everyone is doing good!
Love,
Elder Herring
